The easiest, homemade dog treats can be made with just a few ingredients readily available in your pantry. Healthier than store bought and your four-legged friend will go crazy for them.
“My little dog – a heartbeat at my feet.” – Edith Wharton
Meet Camden, our kitchen superstar today. He cleans up after the mischievous girl and studiously guards the kitchen floor for delicious intruders.
I remember the day we were handed the leash and took him home. Our excitement quickly turned into anxiety and worry now that we were actually going to be pet owners.
Without a doubt, he is the best dog anyone can have. He was shy and reserved at first but after a week of having him, he was our best buddies. Camden is very calm, loves to sit and watch me cook in the kitchen. He loves to be around people. He waits patiently by the window every day for me to get home from work. He follows me everywhere in the house. And he loves and is so protective of Alexis.
Camden is my loving best friend. He comforts me when I’m down and is always there for me. Every night he sits in the corner of the living room, watching me preparing dinner in the kitchen. He often looks at me with his innocent eyes, asking for some treats.
These treats consist of his two favorites flavors: peanut butter and bacon. They’re healthier than store bought and you know exactly what’s inside these treats. No preservatives and you already have most items in your pantry.
Camden completely went nuts over them. He kept coming in the kitchen asking for more.
These treats have also been taste-tested by Camden’s best friends: Biscuits and Kobe. And both love these treats as much as Camden did.
Dog moms, dog lovers, make these for your four-legged friend and they’ll love you forever!
Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats
The easiest homemade dog treat can be made with just a few ingredients readily available in your pantry
- 1 cup canned pumpkin
- 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter I used reduced fat
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinammon
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
For the bacon glaze drizzlings:
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 2 tablespoon oil or bacon grease
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine pumpkin, peanut butter, eggs. Whisk until smooth. Slowly add the flour, baking soda and ground cinnamon. Stir until a dough form. Use your hands to knead until everything is combined.
Use a rolling pin to flatten out the dough. If it's too wet, add a little more flour. Use cookie cutters to cut them into shapes or shape them into small circles.
Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown on top.
In a small bowl, whisk bacon grease and peanut butter. After the cookies are done, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Drizzles the glaze over top of the treats.
Keep these treats in airtight containers in the fridge.
Please consult with your pet’s veterinarian regarding possible allergies for your pet.
